Our Swim Curriculum
At Manta Ray Swim School, our structured curriculum takes swimmers from water comfort all the way to elite technique. Each level builds on the last, with clear goals and graduation requirements.
Note for Parents
Age ranges are recommendations only. Swimmers are placed based on skill level, comfort in the water, and instructor evaluation rather than age alone.
Level 1: Minnow (Ages 2–4)
Goal: Water Comfort & Safety
Students learn:
- Safe pool entry and exit
- Blowing bubbles
- Water acclimation
- Face in water
- Assisted front and back floats
- Assisted kicking
Graduation Requirements:
- Comfortable putting face in water
- Assisted front and back float
- Kick 5 yards with assistance
Level 2: Guppy (Ages 4–6)
Goal: Independent Floating & Movement
Students learn:
- Independent front and back floats
- Streamline position
- Flutter kicking
- Basic freestyle arm movements
- Rolling from front to back
- Jumping into water safely
- Returning to the wall
Graduation Requirements:
- Float independently for 10 seconds
- Swim 10 yards independently
- Demonstrate wall recovery
Level 3: Clownfish (Ages 5–8)
Goal: Freestyle Basics & Water Confidence
Students learn:
- Decent freestyle technique
- Streamline push-offs
- Deep-water confidence
- Basic treading water
- Swimming longer distances
Graduation Requirements:
- Swim half way freestyle
- Tread water for 20 seconds
- Demonstrate confidence in deep water
Level 4: Dolphin (Ages 7–10)
Goal: Multi-Stroke Development
Students learn:
- Freestyle refinement
- Breaststroke fundamentals
- Endurance swimming
Graduation Requirements:
- Swim 25 yards freestyle
- Swim 25 yards breaststroke
- Tread water for 45 sec
Level 5: Barracuda (Ages 9–13)
Goal: Advanced Swimming Skills
Students learn:
- Freestyle confidence
- Breaststroke refinement
- Butterfly fundamentals
- Endurance training
- Advanced water safety
Graduation Requirements:
- Swim 50 yards freestyle
- Swim 50 yards breaststroke
- Swim 25 yards butterfly
- Tread water for 1 minutes
Level 6: Manta Ray (Ages 11+)
Goal: Elite Swimmer & Future Leader
Students learn:
- Advanced stroke technique
- Competitive swimming skills
- Swim conditioning
- Leadership and mentoring
Graduation Requirements:
- Swim 100 yards continuously
- Demonstrate proficiency in (Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly)
- Tread water for 1:30 minutes
